Projects

Over time we hope to address a range of different aspects of Marnhull’s heritage, its historic features, distinctive characteristics and stories.

Currently our priority is to celebrate the parish’s links to Thomas Hardy and his outstanding novel Tess of the d’Urbervilles in which Marnhull features as ‘Marlott’. This includes undertaking research, improving information, enhancing way-marking – the Hardy Way passes through the parish – and creating Marnhull’s Hardy trail. highlighting village locations associated with the novel. We also have plans to mark the centenary of Hardy’s death in 2028 with a series of events in the village – watch this space.
